MIX STARS WORKSHOPS ARE FUN, exciting, and designed for all
Where the fun happened at TVS!
As a specialist school for autistic children, Thames Valley wanted to offer their students a rich variety of activities which were inclusive and engaging
Mix Stars worked closely with the school to design a day of workshops, giving the children an exciting and engaging introduction to DJing.
We were flexible to respond to the needs of the students who were of a variety of ages and with a variety of complex needs. The children enjoyed exploring and manipulating different sounds, learning mixing techniques and effects!
Where a student faced sensory or other challenges, Mix Stars worked with the child and teachers to adapt to make sure they could engage and enjoy the session. This included ensuring a student could use their own familiar headphones, explaining through description and touch to a student with sight impairment, to encouraging the children to share and support each other in pairs.
By the end of each workshop the students (and even some of the teachers!) were confidently mixing, mashing, and juggling sounds!
The students particularly loved mixing UK garage and playing film soundtracks such as The Greatest Showman!!
